hoppy 0 #1 Posted May 21, 2010 Why is it often the simple things can often be the very thing to drive you up a freeking wall?! i just spent the last 1/2 hour trying to get this linkage back on. i cant for the life of me seem to get it in both holes. i have taken off once before when i had to clean the carb to get the machine running. i just replaced the gaskets on the valve cover as it was leaking. no biggie right??!! its all back together but i cant figure this damned little linkage rod out? it goes from the governor arm to the throttle arm on the carb. i know what holes i have to get it back into but it doesnt matter what way i turn it, twist it, flip it, i just can only get one hole at a time but cant get the two to line up. WTF am i doing here? i almost threw the linkage rod into a drainage hole out of spite. this is so stupid i know its going to be but i need help before i push the tractor out back and light it on fire. CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted May 21, 2010 It's easiest if you pull the governor arm off, put the link in then put the arm back on.
hoppy 0 #3 Posted May 21, 2010 :D it appears my throttle linkage on my carb is horizontal to my carb and not vertical like yours! can it "fall over"? LOL no wonder i cant get it lined up!!!
CasualObserver 3,411 #4 Posted May 21, 2010 That's just distortion from the angle of the picture. (and maybe the dirt doesn't help either! ) The throttle control is horizontal. the link pokes down from the top, and in from the front to back of the governor arm. I blew up the picture to try to help.
hoppy 0 #5 Posted May 21, 2010 :USA: oops my bad. looked funny in the picture before. i think the only way i can get back on is to as you said. take the arm off. i will give it another shot tomorrow when my nerves have calmed down abit. thanks for the help helmet! :D
linen beige 15 #6 Posted May 21, 2010 Just curious. How did you get it off? Did you take the carb off to get it out of your way? It's pretty simple to re attach the rod as you replace the carb, before you actually place the carb body back onto the mounting studs. If you remove the governor arm, remember to readjust it as you reinstall it.
