tarcoleo 119 #1 Posted May 20, 2010 Is there an additional purpose to the guard, namely to keep the drive belt to the deck from coming off the sheaves? I have had the belt run off occasionally of late. Over 15 years I have not used the guard and rarely have had a problem 'til now. Soooo? Tom in RI
Don1977 605 #2 Posted May 21, 2010 I think it's more to protect the belt and idler pulleys. You must have a bad bearing in the idlers or your belt isn't tight enough.
Pirate 0 #3 Posted May 25, 2010 Me thinks it's to protect the fingers of little ones, or the Village idiot. Or actually to protect the company from law suits!
Duff 206 #4 Posted May 25, 2010 ...and/or it may be to keep tall grass from getting wound into the pulleys? Duff :D

tarcoleo 119 #6 Posted May 25, 2010 Figured it out. Was using a "B" belt instead of "A". Put an "A" on and problem went away. Tom in RI :D
