kpinnc 14,255 #1 Posted March 21, 2008 My wife is awesome! I went and got it, but she paid for it for me. Did I mention my wife is awesome! It was dark when I got home, so the pics kinda suck. Here is my "new" RJ-58/59! The "bumper is just bolted on with brackets on the axle. Kinda different... It also has a tiny 3 point hitch that works on the manual lift- bolted to the slot hitch and tranny. The big silly tires are just an extra set I had lying around. The PO wanted to keep the ones that were on it. They were new "super lugs", and he's putting them on a 702. It's in pretty good shape, but I hadn't noticed the crack in the hood near the filler cap. Not too bad, just something I missed. I think someone may have "slotted" the hole for the steering shaft in the hood a bit. Nothing that I can't fix though. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the correct engine. It has a K-91, instead of a K-90. I'll have to find one I guess, but the PO gave me two of them since one was missing the head. There have been some "mods" to this tractor, but all of them bolt on. No problems there! I'm happy regardless. Now to find a K-90.... It's got to be easier than finding a K-161 for my 701. At least I hope it will be! Kevin

kpinnc 14,255 #5 Posted March 21, 2008 Can't wait to see it in the daylight. Ha! It looks better in the dark! It's painted sorta orangish-pink. Thanks fellas! This makes two tractors she's bought for me! Kevin
Rollerman 290 #6 Posted March 21, 2008 Sweet...Looks great Kevin. I'll bet you have it fixed up nice in no time. I don't know about your area in NC...but up here the K90's are not that hard to find. If you are wanting the right spec number...that could be harder. I'm guessing the PO wanted a bumper similiar to the early Fords? And what make are those tires you have on it now...I've never seen that tread pattern?
BPjunk 184 #7 Posted March 21, 2008 Kevin, Only the very early RJ-58's used a Kohler model K-90, most had a model K-91 (4hp) or a Clinton model B1290-1107 (3.6hp). Hey by the way ... where in North Carolina do you live? Bill in Richmond, Va.
Sparky-(Admin) 22,802 #8 Posted March 21, 2008 Good lookin tractor Kevin. Sometimes my wife surprises me like that as well. kpinnc 14,255 #9 Posted March 21, 2008 Hey by the way ... where in North Carolina do you live? In a little town called Albemarle, about 30 miles from Charlotte. Or another way to look at it would be at least 30 miles from everywhere else... Thanks for the info on the K-91. I had no idea! As I said earlier, the PO gave me two K-91s, so hopefully I can get one running without too much trouble. Thanks Bill! Kevin
kpinnc 14,255 #10 Posted March 21, 2008 Sometimes my wife surprises me like that as well. That's great Mike! Mine really surprised me with this. Of course, now I have to follow through on the new fridge and stove deal... DONE BABY! Stephen, I'll have to go get the name brand on the tires you asked about. I do know they came off of an old two-wheeled tractor, but that's it. I'll send you some info on them tomorrow. Kevin
Greg B. 1 #11 Posted March 21, 2008 Nice haul, Kevin. Buy that lady a bottle of wine... The good stuff. She's a keeper! Greg B.

kpinnc 14,255 #14 Posted March 21, 2008 OK, here are some daylight pics. As I said, she looks better in the dark.... No, I don't say that often. I pulled the "bull bars" off of the front: And the back rest off of the seat: Looks like the steering shaft hood slot has been opened up a bit: And ONE of the two engines I got with it is a bit new: Still, I'm very pleased. I can't wait to git 'er done! Kevin
TT-(Moderator) 1,160 #15 Posted March 21, 2008 You shouldn't have to work too hard to get that one back in tip-top shape, Kevin. It really looks like a solid machine.

Greg B. 1 #17 Posted March 21, 2008 Not too shabby there, Kevin. Wish my 69 Ford had as few issues. Heck, I wish my 1980 'horse had as few issues!! Greg B.

Rollerman 290 #19 Posted March 21, 2008 Kevin it does look nice. Did the PO tell you what kind of tools he had used on the 3 point...or give ya any history on it. Thats a nice find though & it's found a good home.
kpinnc 14,255 #20 Posted March 22, 2008 Did the PO tell you what kind of tools he had used on the 3 point...or give ya any history on it. Nah, wasn't the one who put all that on it. I bought it from him in the same condition he got it in. The original owner sold it to him because he supposedly flipped it over backwards, and decided it was time to try something new. The guy I bought it from used to collect them, and had only 3 tractors left. He's only keeping the 702. He also had a 69 Charger for sale. Kevin
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,589 #21 Posted March 22, 2008 Kevin, Even the day time pictures, it still looks pretty nice. As TT mentioned, it's a solid tractor. I'm sure you will get this one looking pristine in no time.
