kpinnc 14,257 #1 Posted March 20, 2008 Looks like I finally may have a line on an old RJ. It's either a 58 or 59. I was wondering if you guys could help me with some pointers for determining the correct year. Sorry, I don't have any pics yet. It'll probably be a couple weeks before I actually pick it up. I'm thinking it's a 59, just not sure. The obvious parts are the K-90 engine, 3 piece tranny, straight steel front axle, and the hood. The only thing I know that supposedly was different between the 58 and 59s was that the 59 models had a "graduated" implement lift that allowed for multiple positions. The tractor I'm looking at does have that lift. Are there any other features that would nail down the year of this machine? BPjunk 184 #3 Posted March 20, 2008 Kevin, If you find a RJ with a serial number of 20,001 or higher you have a RJ-59, the RJ-58 and RJ-59 are identical. The lift quadrants were a later option as was the fender/tool box and muffler guard. There was only 2,500 RJ-59 models produced but 20,000 RJ-58's. Bill in Richmond, Va. The owner is planning to keep the rear tires for his 702 (which are the meatiest AGs I have ever seen), so the price is going to be somewhere around $300. The tractor has the optional rear fenders, the hood is in decent shape, and still has the gas tank attached with no dents on the hood. There are no real rust issues anywhere. Given how rare they are here, I guess that's not completely unreasonable. Only drawback is like several of my tractors, the engine is not original. It's the K-90, but I haven't confirmed the numbers for the year model on it yet. I hope to have it home sometime in the next couple weeks. Kevin Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
