1967 Lawn Ranger gets new Carlisle tires!

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

I bought some new Carlisle tires for my 1967 Lawn Ranger several weeks ago and finally got around to changing them.

I bought some wheels at Portland, Indiana from Rob Lawrence and used them and my old set to make a nice pair of newly p[ainted wheels, with new hardened bolts, nylok nuts and lock washers. I also added newly acquired red Wheel Horse plastic hub covers that I bought off a tractor in Iowa.

I also updates the spindle bolts on this tractor with some newer washers.

I am posting a lot of the pictures as this may help someone else take on one of these tasks that is worth doing to keep your tractor and spindles in good shape.

I removed one of the front wheels on my 1975 wheel horse c-160 and found two washers on the axle. The parts list only lists .015 thick and .05 thick washers that go on the axle before the wheel is put on. The inner diameter of the .015 thick washer is larger than the .050 thick washer. Are they supposed to have different I.D.s? Also which one goes on the axle first? Thanks
