Deck Conversion

Recommended Posts

Len Haduck

Hello good and knowledgeable people. Newbie here. I have a 42XR01 deck that I picked up recently. I believe it is for a verticle shaft mower. I was wondering if anyone has ever converted one to use on a 314 or similiar tractor. If so, can you give me some ideas as to what parts I would need to come up with to do this. I would appreciate any and all info. I'm sure it would need some new pullies maybe and a deck lift. The address below is a photobucket address to a picture I took of the deck.

thanks,

Len :D

I have converted a few non-GT (garden tractor) decks for use on GT's. Some are a bit more involved than others, but since the shells are stamped from the same basic dies, it can be done.

The deck in the above picture will need the entire carriage, the center spindle (double) pulley, and part of the mounting bracket/front roller bracket will need cut off. You might also have to change the rear gauge wheel bar assembly and relocate the belt tensioner assembly. (sorry I can't remember all the details)

The best - and easiest way to convert one is if you have the corresponding GT deck to use as a donor. In most cases, the shell is rotten or broke and all the other pieces are still usable.
