Bohleized 0 #1 Posted May 15, 2010 :D I have a 1980-81? C105 8 speed. I made a dump truck with this chassis. It required moving the rear wheels back 55". I am driving them with a #50 chain that was recommended by a couple of people that I spoke with. After building the truck the chain drive is now the weakest link (no pun intended) as I broke the chain last night. My question is what is the final drive horsepower or torque in low speed? pfrederi 17,199 #3 Posted May 16, 2010 I can't comment on the horse power. The 55" of chain however is a lot of chain. Look at an old Sterling Chain drive truck from the 1920s. They used a very large chain but there wasn't a long distance between the drive sprocket and the axle sprocket. The axle sprocket was very large so a large portion of the total chain length was always supported by the two sprockets. Do you have tensioner sprockets to support the chain???
