145Automatic 7 #1 Posted May 6, 2010 I would like a little Information on an an issue that puzzels me. I Have an 87 312 8 speed that has 1" rear axil, 4 pinoin differential and 6" front wheels. I also have a 92 312 8 speeed that has 1 1/8" rear axil, 8" front wheels and I'm guessing an 8 pinion differential. Did toro switch the specs or is one of my 312's a freak? Thanks for any input. :D
KeithB 6 #2 Posted May 6, 2010 300 series had 4 pinion or 10, unless someone swapped a 8 pinion in.
145Automatic 7 #3 Posted May 7, 2010 A 10 pinoin. That sounds cool. I've never had the 92 transaxil apart because like the rest of the tractor its never given me any issues. I saved the 87 during its trip to the scrap yard. The P.O. had been into the transaxil on it. They didn't clean off all the old gasket so it leaked. They also had the wrong size retainer clip in the differential so one of the axils was about to come out. But, I souldn't complain cause it was free, and will be my primary mowing machine when the rebuild is done. :D
