Is this the right motor??? 603

Recommended Posts

Hello All--I have a 603 that I got at least 20 years ago and it had no motor at the time I got it. I shoe horned in a Kohler 8 and left the starter gen off of it and simply used the rope guide in the flywheel pulley to start it---I put a battery in it that I would occasionally charge, the battery was only for the ignition... Anyways, I happened to come across an all original Kohler 6 yank start only with the old fairbanks morse (I guess :D ) recoil on it and I wondered if that was the right motor for the tractor when it left the factory or whether they where all 6 hp Tecumsehs??? I'll probably put the kohler in it anyways... but it would be nice if it hapopened to be "correct"

Thanks

Tony

Pretty sure they had a rope start H60, Tony. It was an 'el cheapo stripper model so economized where possible.

My list says they should have had an H60-75016 from the factory, Tony.

But I'd go with the recoil start Kohler if I was you... :D
