bustedglass 1 #1 Posted May 1, 2010 Well after sitting for two years, I finaly got around to having someone tear into the engine of my 414-8 that I picked up a few years ago. It had been sitting outside for the last 5 years before I got it. The PO said that it was running, and then just stopped. And he just left it where it quit . I had big hopes of restoring this tractor, but without having any mechanical skills ( I was hopeing to have someone get the engine going for me, and I was going to do the cosmetic work ), i'm afraid that my big dreams are over. The motor has a broken crank, a broken rod, and a whole list of other broken parts, that renders this engine no more than a boat anchor. I just cant afford a new, or even a rebuilt 14hp Kohler. And, I don't know if the transmission/rearend, PTO, etc., etc. are any good . So, unless one of you guys have a spare engine that you would let go CHEAP, I'm afraid that I will be tearing my "Dream Machine" down, and parting it out . Hopefully I can recoup what I all ready have in it. If there is anything you guys need, just let me know. It also has a 42" ( or it could be a 48", I really have'nt measured it ) SD deck with it.
