rmaynard 15,964 #1 Posted April 30, 2010 I would like to know what would be considered a fair price to buy a K301S-47421D. I know this engine has a blown head gasket, but I don't know what else is wrong. I am considering making an offer but I need a little more knowledge. The engine is still mounted to a Raider 12, and I would have to remove it. Bob

HI Bob if u can get it for around $ 100 or lees I would go for it Put some marvel down the jug to free up if needed. U could use it for a piece tractor this is what I am doing with all my spare parts. to me it is better than putting them in the steel hopper or for Scrap.... If u get it Bob have fun and enjoy the day. SAVE OLD IRON. Gary B.....
rmaynard 15,964 #5 Posted April 30, 2010 I know I won't get it for $100.00. That's a nice dream though. Bob

Kelly 1,031 #8 Posted May 1, 2010 I buy nonrunning Kohlers for $25 at the local junk yard, I just got a 16hp Kohler for that and had it running in 10 min after getting it home, but good running ones sell for $250+ I've sold all my running 10 and 12hp Kohlers to the local pulling guys and they paid $300 each and came back for the rest of them I had, so to me not running $100 is top money, I'd have to pull the head and check out the bore and valves before spending to much on it. rmaynard 15,964 #9 Posted May 1, 2010 Kelly, I hear what you are saying, and for the most part I agree with you. However, I have found that in my neck of the woods, Wheel Horse engines are few and far between. I wish I had access to some $50.00, or even $150.00 engines, but those who have them around here start the pricing around $250.00. Wish you were closer, I'd be paying you a visit. rmaynard 15,964 #11 Posted May 1, 2010 I don't know where you guys are finding $40 and $50 engines. I always knew that Maryland was an expensive state, but I thought it was just our taxes. If anyone in or near Maryland has a K301S to sell for $100 or less, please contact me. Bob
