NYRedNeck 4 #1 Posted April 30, 2010 Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum and WheelHorse tractors. I am looking at a few different models for sale. I have a chance to buy a choice of... And I may buy both of them, depending on your opinions and advice. One is, I believe a 1964 1045, it runs and is in pretty clean shape with a mower, but Someone chopped a nice pc of the grill out on the right side. I can buy this tractor for 250.00. My question is.. Can i get a grill for this form ebay or CL, with some patience? Is it worth the price of 250.00 not to mention the 5 hour round trip drive. The secone is a 1967 t867 running, with mower, pretty clean although someone flipped on it once and there is a little bit of denting in the hood and some modifications to the pins that hold the grill or hood down.. Not sure,, have not seen this in person yet. But........150.00 running with deck.. sounds good, but I am quite new to the whole scene, so please feel free to share your thoughts. I am in the NY area so you are not going to find any of these here for 50.00 Thanks in Advance

Hammerhead 817 #4 Posted April 30, 2010 Hello and welcome to our world! I'd buy the 1965, 1045 first, it is pretty rare, then for the heck of it, I'd get the 1967, 867 too, it is rare as well, the first year they used the mighty 6 speed transmission! All Wheel Horse guys know this is a great trans! So, yeh, Get 'em both! Ask if they would take any less for them first, they may have a bottom line figure!!!Good luck and post some pics! Keith :D
horsefeathers 15 #5 Posted April 30, 2010 NYredneck, Both tractors seem reasonably priced at least in my area N/W Pa. The 1045 would be my first choice also, Verbal discription and pics are not as good as being there lookin' at the tractor! Sooooo.... I'd try to get a bottom line on a package deal! Some folks over exagerate what they are sellin' and when you get there you are disapointed so it's a crap shoot! Good luck HORSEFEATHERS!
NYRedNeck 4 #6 Posted April 30, 2010 Should I be concerned about the grill that looks like it was bitten by Jaws on the 1045? Can I find a replacement on ebay, or on here somewhere? Should I walk away from the 1045 at 250.00? Dont know if he will go lower, he is asking 300.00. Will keep you all posted and post pics as soon as possible. Not sure if I can make this happen over the weekend, but will try. Thanks

NYRedNeck 4 #10 Posted May 10, 2010 Hello All, I have created a photobucket acct and added photos of the 1045. Please let me know what you think. I got a chance only to clean it up a little this weekend. Did not get a chance to tinker with the motor. The PO was not able to keep it running while I was there. It did start and sounded like it wanted to stay running, but no luck. It seemed like it was getting spark. The carb seemed to keep spiiting fuel out. I will change the plug first chance i get and try to start it. Any and all help and comments is greatly appreciated. If anyone has any parts that they would like to sell, please let me know. Hope you can view the photos. Here is the link. http://s1024.photobucket.com/albums/y302/N...20Horse%201045/ I will reset the fenders and seat as soon as I can. Can anyone tell me if those are the original tires on the rear? I know the fronts are incorrect. He did give me another set of fronts that he thinks were the originals. Once again, thanks for looking.

NYRedNeck 4 #21 Posted June 1, 2010 Here are a few pics as promised with the new hood, and the seat, and fenders lowered. Need to hunt down some more parts, I think I need a new seat or some welding. I would not sit on it If I were you. :D
145Automatic 7 #22 Posted June 1, 2010 I'd say you got a good deal. That horse looks pretty good. I'm not too familiar with early model square hoods, but I would think the hood from other models from the mid to late 60's should fit. Just keep an eye out on EB. Or maybe someone From here could help you out with a hood. :D
