MaineDad 87 #1 Posted April 29, 2010 Guys, The Toro Wheel Horse dealer I buy most of my parts from here in Maine has 5 Wheel Horse RJ's all in excellent shape and one with a sickle bar mower, plus a box full of brand new parts for Wheel Horse snowmobiles that he is interested in selling. I told him that the RJ's could probably bring 600-700 bucks each, more for the one with the sickle bar mower. Am I wrong on the price? These are all in his warehouse and have been collecting dust for a couple of decades! He also has two brand new walk behind Wheel Horse snowblowers he wants to keep but may change his mind. As far as the snowmobile parts, I have no idea on pricing. I'm going to take some pics tomorrow. What do you guys think?
MikesRJ 558 #2 Posted April 29, 2010 The way prices are going lately, I'd say you're in the ball park. He could get at least 300.00 for the RJ's in 100% complete, but crappy surface condition anywhere in the North East. I would assume Jason (LordHellmutt) would be better at the snowmobile parts. CasualObserver 3,410 #3 Posted April 29, 2010 The snowmobile parts are going to be interesting. To give even a ballpark on pricing them is nearly impossible. On the positive side, so few NOS parts actually exist, and even fewer have ever made it to market. On top of that, the number of sleds that are still around and in the hands of capable collectors to restore them are getting fewer and fewer all the time. Working against him, Wheel Horse made some ugly sleds, and they aren't worth much. They're not high in demand among vintage snowmobile collectors. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but they're not the prettiest of machines. I don't know what parts and what kind of quantity you're talking about, but I'm going to guess that he's probably got some bumper rails, bogey springs and wheels, throttle controls and other general service parts. I think his best market will unfortunately be or perhaps advertising it on Irondog's Online Snowmobile Swapmeet. The market itself is going to be the upper half of the US, and the lower areas of Canada. (Prime snowmobile usage areas of the 70s) He'll probably draw a larger audience at ebay, but hit more specialized collectors on Irondog... it's a total crap-shoot. Either way, I look forward to the pictures. I tried to buy out the remaining snowmobile inventory of an old dealer near me, but when he actually got to looking for it, he couldn't find it anywhere! He told me several times he had the stuff... just never did find it. :omg:

Polaris2007 4 #8 Posted April 30, 2010 Micah, let me know what he decides to do with the RJs. I would definitely be interested in one if my budget at the time permits. Are they in varying states of disrepair? or are they all NOS? I would probably be most interested in the one that needs the most work. (if there is one) because I love fixing them up, and it would be easiest on my budget. Keep me posted :D

Go on over to vintagesleds.com and vintagesledders.com and list the wheel horse sled parts there.. they will be sold fast.. Theres not many wheelhorse sleds around and NOS parts are hard to find when you do find them..
