stator and flywheel match? Tecumseh

Recommended Posts

New to the site and these Tecumseh and Aspera motors.

I have an HT25 Aspera and an HT35 Tecumseh. I rebuilt the HT25 but I am having problems getting it started. I set the timing to spec at .065 btdc with the head off. I have spark but can't get the motor to fire up. The plug is good. I was wondering if my stator and flywheel combo could be wrong or is any spark good spark?

I am using a Tecumseh flywheel with the Aspera stator.

The motor is on the bench and I have tried just about everything. The old arm is pretty tired.

Any thoughts from the small engine gods?

BTW: the cam is aligned with the crank. The valves open and close, the piston and rings are new.

hi, i have had a similar situation. it was on an old h55. i was trying to use a wico flywheel with tecumseh point plate. incorrect. what i do know is.. the wico and tecumseh flywheels look the same, but have different magnet locations. not familiar with the aspera stator though. jimmy

This is a little old but I always like to do a follow up. I got it going. I made a rookie mistake and had no adjusted the valves yet so they were hung open and let all the compression/charge out the exhaust. I set the valves and she runs great!

Thought you might have felt that in the recoil. Glad to hear you have it going. I also have mixed parts on my Techy ignition system, and it works just fine.

Oh and :D
