Duff 206 #1 Posted April 27, 2010 Hi, folks! After many months, a ton of very enjoyable work, and much holding of breath when I went to start a motor I'd never heard run before, #2 has been resurrected. Much of the credit goes to members here who've sold me parts, offered invaluable advice and encouragement, and have by their example shown me what a sorely abused tractor can become. A very special thank you to my friend Jack (Rideawaysenior) for finding this tractor for me! I apologize for this first set of pictures. The rain most of the rest of the country has been experiencing over the weekend has finally caught up to us here in New Hampshire, so I shot these in my workshop. Better photos along with 312-8 #1 will follow. For those with the eagle eyes, you will see this tractor doesn't have a PTO set up. #1 is my mower. This one will get grading, plowing and pulling (as in trailers) duty. By the way - the motor runs like a Swiss watch. I suspected when I opened it up it had been recently rebuilt, and now I'm convinced of it. Thanks again, guys! Oh, yeah....this is what I started with! Thanks for looking! Horse Fanatic 49 #4 Posted April 27, 2010 Looks like you did some high quality work! While I personally am not crazy about the black frame and rims I'm all for people making them how they want them. The was a pretty cool hood ornament it had, you should have left that on! :omg:

Duff 206 #22 Posted April 27, 2010 nice tractor duff!!!! hey where are your saftey switches Thanks to all for looking and for your kind words! Michael, good eyes, and I cannot tell a lie - there are no safety switches . As a disclaimer, I do not generally advocate eliminating safety switches on tractors. In my particular case, I know my limits, my equipment, the terrain I'm using them on, and have been operating garden tractors for about 40 years. We have no children, and I only loan my machines out to a few close friends who are experienced as well. All that said, I do believe in seat belts in cars and helmets on bikes, so go figure. Call me crazy, and have a great day! Duff :D

HankB 16 #24 Posted April 27, 2010 Great looking results! I'm not sure I like the extent of the black, but I think it does look better than some of the restorations where it seems that everything that did not move got painted red. I'm curious if you thought that the foot rests were particularly rusty. I'm in the process of repainting the ones on my '97 314-H. The rest of my tractor does not have this problem. I'm wondering if the foot rests are a trouble spot on the classic style tractors. best, hank PS: I would put the hood ornament on a magnetic base so you can pull it out and stick it on when someone asks about it. :D
