stevasaurus 23,279 #1 Posted April 26, 2010 I had a great day on the horse. Had a few holes in a fenced in area that only this wagon would fit in. Then, I got the old lawn roller out and rolled 3 of the yards in the neighborhood. It is a 32" roller with a 24" dia barrel. Nice day. :omg:

Gene_S 93 #6 Posted April 26, 2010 Nice worker Steve... Is that lawn roller a WH product? You didn't roll my yard... Oh I guess we're neighboring states... Good reason... :omg:
stevasaurus 23,279 #7 Posted April 27, 2010 You know, Gene...I really do not know if it is a Wheel Horse. It is red, but I do not see any stickers. I will post some better pictures today and maybe we can figure it out. I would like to know. The seat is very comfy and good for the back while idling around in first gear for 4 hours. Was excellent on gas also at that speed. :omg:

Was excellent on gas also at that speed. You could probably get a custom sticker made for the roller. Idling? Is that a figure of speech? One thing I learned while reading my manual - and it surprised me - was to not idle the engine for long periods. Apparently it doesn't provide good cooling air flow and the splash lubrication may not work that well. I'm also surprised to see the blade still on it. Here in Winfield we haven't gotten snow for weeks and I've already put the mower deck back on. Oh, I see. You're flattening your grass rather than mow it. :D
Duff 206 #9 Posted April 27, 2010 Oh, I see. You're flattening your grass rather than mow it. Darn! And all this time I thought "backdragging" was to level out dirt and gravel. Never thought of it for lawnmowing....... Duff :D
stevasaurus 23,279 #11 Posted April 27, 2010 Hank...you got me. If you run over the grass enough it lays down...covers bare spots...etc. I knew about idling in first gear, so I was going a little faster...could feel the heat from the engine though. But you have to go slow to do a good job. (that works on other things also). I did check the oil before and after. As far as the blade, still have a little Rock & Rye left from the winter. Just being prepared. Actually, I have to take this horse to my mom's and spread some black dirt and roll her yard. Here is some better pics of the roller: If this is a wheel horse attachment, I will get a sticker to put on it...looking to find out. Like I said way before...it is 32" long and it has a 24" dia barrel. It takes some time to fill it with water. :D
JimD 3,347 #12 Posted April 28, 2010 When you have a "Rock and Rye Roller" and a blade on the tractor, you can flatten lot's of stuff. :omg:
Duff 206 #13 Posted April 28, 2010 Steve, while it certainly looks well enough built to be something Wheel Horse would have offered, I don't recall seeing pictures of any WH products with factory pin striping. Granted, the stripes could be aftermarket but they seem pretty well laid out to match the design of the roller and, at least in the pictures, seem to have the same patina as the red paint. Whether or not it's WH original, it sure looks like a fine attachment to have on hand! Duff :omg:
stevasaurus 23,279 #14 Posted April 28, 2010 Duff, that is what I was thinking...it is very well built. As for the striping...my dad stripped all his Wheel Horse stuff to match his truck for his lawn business. Fan...party on dude. :D
Suburban 550 28 #15 Posted April 29, 2010 Steve, so that is where you hide your supply of Rock and Rye, in the roller ? Glad to see you out and workin'. Too bad you didn't live closer. :D
