C111 engine

Has anyone convertered a C111 engine to electronic ignition and if so do I need to be a Wallstreet banker and have a degree in electrical engineering?

The C111 I picked up had a mouse nest under the flywheel cover and the plug wire is chewed all the way through, the points are nothing but rusted metal so I am thinking about converting it..

There used to be a Magnetron (electronic ignition) kit available from

Briggs & Stratton. When checking the IPL for 252417 0198-01, which is the

engine originally in your tractor, magneto armature 398811 is shown as a different armature than the points and condenser armature. The spark plug cable and end are included. That would be my choice of repair, since it should change you to electronic ignition and includes the plug wire. You need only hook up the kill switch wire to the terminal on the armature (coil).
