jcatsc 0 #1 Posted April 22, 2010 The coil on my C-160 (just acquired it) gets extremely hot when attempting to start. After looking through the various manuals at yahoo groups, I can not figure out what the original part number might be or an after-market part number either. I'm not quite sure if the coil is original. But here's what I think I know; 1975 model 10481 Engine-K341S Spec number-71123A Serial Number on engine-7094143 Serial Number on chassis-146840 So I want to buy a new coil, what should I be hunting for and where? NAPA? Thanks in advance---you can see a picture of the c-160 under my intro.

gwgdog66 23 #3 Posted April 22, 2010 :omg: You may have other electrical issues, I don't know without any hands on the engine. The Kohler Part number would be 231281-S. If you get it at a Napa it would be Part Number SME 701634
jcatsc 0 #4 Posted April 22, 2010 Thanks Gary in OK, Your correct, lots of electrical issues. I'll need to trace everything out today with a multimeter, since the wiring does not look original. I'll end up re-wiring it since it looks like crap. I looked through the manuals avail. including the K-series engine manual and could not find that part number anywhere. Thanks for the help!! We share something in common, I entered service at Benning in 83 and retired last may.
