B-80 choke/gas knob removal?

Recommended Posts

Is there a preferred removal method for taking off the plastic choke/gas knobs from the metal lever without breaking them? I'm famously heavy handed and would prefer not breaking them if possible.

thanks in advance!!

During my 312 teardown I hit the knobs with a heat gun for a bit (carefully) and it came right off.

(OK...actually I hit it with just the heat, not the gun.) :omg:

Take a pair of vice grips and clamp onto the lever. Then take a nail puller and put between the back of the knob and the vice grips.

Apply downward pressure on the nail puller and the knob will pop off with ease, and no damage to the dash panel. (That panel was already broken)
