sgtsampay 117 #1 Posted April 15, 2010 Hi all. As you guys know, I have a little 211-5 made in 86 with a 5 spd on it. I do my best to keep it in top shape and like to add a few custom thing to it. My latest thing I did to it was a new hitch, as the old one was bending under my garden trailer that I built over the winter. Anyway, I had to mow the grass yesterday, so I had to move the family's TAB camper. The camper itself is easy to move by hand, but I wanted to see if the tractor could move it. Well, it did and all I did was put it in 1st gear with barley any trottle. (1900RPM) I then let out the clutch very slowy and it just went along. No drop in rpm or anything. Here are some pictures to prove that it did it. The only concern I have is if I did this all day long, as it might damage the tranny since its not super strong. Also the tongue weight is rated at 145lbs and I weight 170lbs, so I think it has a little more it could go, but not much. LOL. Anyway, enjoy! PS. If you guys have any advice, please give. LOL. Duff 206 #2 Posted April 15, 2010 Sarge, that looks like a nice setup there. As with most things mechanical, 90% of the key is how you operate them. It looks like you were being careful and gentle with the machine with that load behind it, and with that in mind I doubt you hurt the tractor any. These machines are pretty rugged beasts, and as long as we don't pound on them they can take a lot over the long haul. Airstream used to make one similar to that years ago and I passed on a nice one for $50. I've kicked myself in the arse ever since. Nice trailer, by the way! stevasaurus 23,279 #3 Posted April 15, 2010 Very nice pictures Sgt. I think you will find that that horse can pull that trailer all day long without a sweat, and you don't have to dangle a carrot in front of it. Those teardrop campers are neat. :omg:
jpmcleod 4 #5 Posted April 15, 2010 If you have to move the trailer every time you mow, put a hitch on the front and push it. It works great and you don't break your neck trying to back the trailer up. That little 5hp horse can move more than that trailer weighs. Some people are amazed at what 5 hp can do. I have used a Wheel Horse with a homemade brush guard on the front with a 12hp Kohler to push a Jeep Cheerokee wagon onto a trailer on several ocassions. They are really durable. sgtsampay 117 #6 Posted April 15, 2010 Thanks guys for the encouragments. It was very nice to know that I'm not going to kill the tractor with my camper. Yeah! Anyway, the biggest thing I was worried about, was the tranny, as you guys and my neighbor say, it should be fine! Thanks again guys. You really made me feel good. I will also try to get some pictures of my hitch, so you can see it and then how i used the tractor to move a bush a few days ago. It was very funny!
