Doubletrouble 10 #1 Posted April 11, 2010 I was tinkering again, and noticed my main drive belt on my '71 work horse 800 has a couple cracks in it. I thought the PO gave me one with the tractor but I went to install it and it's to long. Where can I get one at a reasonable price? Is this something easy to find anywhere? What is a reasonable price so I know when I find one? Thanks
rickv1957 74 #2 Posted April 11, 2010 While you can match up to a belt from an auto parts store an OEM belt is the best,Rick
Doubletrouble 10 #3 Posted April 11, 2010 Anyone know the part # ? I looked on partstree but wasn't sure of the PN. Tried a couple other sites still no luck. If anyone knows the OEM part # it would help. Thanks
markslawnmowerworld 4 #4 Posted April 11, 2010 According to my toro website your belt part# is 8911 and it is discontinued, but my toro interchange manual says its a 4L x 83.10 lentgh in inches... hope this helps you. :omg:
markslawnmowerworld 4 #5 Posted April 11, 2010 one more thing here is your tractor id# 1-0100 so you can look up parts. :D
Doubletrouble 10 #6 Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks Mark. I had the model # but the way that partstree had it all laid out was a bit confusing to me.
Doubletrouble 10 #7 Posted April 13, 2010 I found a 4Lx83in.on-line. Kevlar here's the link. http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/12-7526.html?id=HiWQHd4x Will this work? It'sslightly shorter but it should do. Opinions?? anyone use one of these?
RideRed 0 #8 Posted April 14, 2010 it will work. the 8911 is still avail thru a few web sites. but a low horsepower belt is the same 83"x.5", which would be a 4L830 or A81. I just went through this on mine, except my main is 5/8" wide (5L or B series) it called for an 83", but found that 84" worked just as good because 5L830's are hard to find while 5L840's are a dime a dozen. here's how belts work... look up the part number on smallenginepartswarehouse then look up the number on http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/belts/wheel_horse_belts.asp then convert the size- 1/2" = 4L or A, 5/8" = 5L or B, for "L" series take the length (less than 100) and add a zero, for A or B series take the length and subtract 2. clintonnut 126 #9 Posted April 14, 2010 You can get belts with the metric conversion from your parts store. If you convert 83.10 inches to mm then you have a 2110.74mm by 16mm wide belt (.625 is 15.875) MM is much more precise than inches. MM is also available in any size. You can go a good parts store and give them these numbers and ask for something as close as possible and Dayco belts should be able to get you a strong kevlar belt cheaper than going to a toro site for any drive belt.
