What size air filter

What is the correct air filter in a tear drop breather style on the 82 C-175?

Is it a short (not very tall) one?

Right now the one thats in it can't be right, the cover doesn't go all the way down against the base. I cant find any info about it. :omg:

3" tall with foam cover around it. Kohler part number is 45-083-02.

Mine has a metal dish that goes over the top of the air cleaner sort of like a seal then the cover goes over the whole assembly.

3" would be taller yet, I have the tear drop style breather. The filter that's in it now is just a little over 2" and the top still doesn't go down to touch the base. :omg:

OK. Well, mine is an 84 with the tube for heat from the exhaust manifold so it must be different. Would have to see if I can find my original 1981 engine filter cover and see what it looks like.

Take a look at this pic and see if you can see the gap at the bottom between the base and breather cover. At least I dont think it should be like that.

Air filter for that engine for 1982 is 47-083-01. Wix filter PN# is 42296, Height: 1.812, Outer Diameter: 7.000, Inner Diameter: 5.570.
