HC was a no frills tractor Hydro commercial, no chrome, no extra gauges, I think but not sure they came with the forward swept axle, and the wide rear rims, made more for a work tractor.

As usual, Kelly's right. But to elaborate a little more:

(Going on memory here, so look out).

The 520H and HC were sold in 1988 and 1989. The "H" was the more common "consumer" model with 5-gauges; chrome hubcaps, air cleaer, dipstick SST muffler cover, etc; and a straight (non-swept) front axle.

The "HC" was a Commercial model (Like the 418-C and 112-C before it) and was a bit of a stripper in comparison. No chrome and I think it lacked the tachometer and vacuum gage (could be wrong on that). But, it had the forward swept front axle - at the time this was called the Heavy Duty front axel - and could therefore accomodate the 60" deck.

In 1990, all 520's got the swept/HD axle and the HC commercial model was dropped. This is also the year that Toro started putting their name on the decal and changed the coloring of the graphics package. 1990 also brought the short lived, non-chromed 520-8speed of which only a handful were built.

HC's aren't rare or particularly special. But I'd imagine the H was by far a bigger seller.

My HC also has 5 gauges but not as many idiot lights as my early H and later model H.
