Audioshot 2 #1 Posted April 4, 2010 What is the best technique for fine tuning. I've read everything from turning them out til black smoke appears then back in until it stalls and setting it in between to setting them at 1.5 turns and leaving it alone. Any suggestions. Duff 206 #2 Posted April 4, 2010 Does your carb have both jets adjustable, or is the high speed fixed and the low speed adjustable? The Magnum engines came both ways..... Duff :omg:
Audioshot 2 #3 Posted April 4, 2010 Hi Duff, yes, it has the idle and hi speed air screws. It's a Walbro carb. The throttle plate also has an idle stop adjustment screw. I have it pretty close, but then I heard these engines need to be slightly rich so the valves don't burn.
Duff 206 #4 Posted April 4, 2010 Sounds like your almost there. I, too, have heard that you don't want to run these engines too lean, and I've heard or read that the way to set the jets is to tweak them each way until the engine just starts to run rough and land half way in between. I think I'd let out the high speed jet until the engine starts to stumble then turn it back in just enough to smooth things up but no more. Duff :omg:
