Got the recoil back and got her running after she sat in the attic of the dealer for over 25 years... She ran great and was a real pleasure to finally get to drive it.

That's in very nice condition Stevebo. Do you plan to restore it or leave it as is?

This one will remain as is. I do not plan on changing the replacement motor coloer either. The only thing I did was to clean it up, painted the wheels with rusto satin black with a brush and repainted the motor only because I used brake cleaner to get the grease off it and it peeled the paint :omg:

IMO the only tractors that should be restored are those that have been repainted at one point or another or if there is simply too much surface rust.

Looks awesome Steve! The 58 from the same attic should be running by mid week as well. The Kohler K90 from Kentucky is due to arrive Monday. I can't wait.

Stevebo, very nice RJ! :omg: I just went to te local farm n' garden to look at their 1956 RJ, they have had in house for 20+ years,it's restored and looks great, but I agree I like the "as found Patina ", It took 50+ years for the elements to cereate that look and only a few minets to wipe it all gone! Question, are the foot rests corect for the RJ all I've seen , including mine just have the round posts? Any help? HORSEFEATHERS!

Horsefeathers,

They are NOT correct for that tractor. They usually came on the newer models like the 753, 702 and others. I do not they had footboards in 56. I may be wrong. Anyone else know what year they offered footboards as an option? I know they had them in 58..

Glad you are keeping it as is - looks great now. Nice tires - really looks terrific. I bet it is fun - the kind of tractor you start up just to take it for a ride, or "find" a job to do.

I have to say there is not a lot you can do with these little RJ's.. I would limit it to pulling a little cart... Very light front end so if you are going up a slight incline it is hard to steer.

Great looking pond! Great decision on keeping it the way it is. You don't see as many original ponds as you would like to!
