Kohler oilfill plug /dipstick tubes

Howdy all,

Were the blocks on all K series Kohlers tapped where the dipstick/oil fill plug is or were some that had dipstick tubes that were pressed into the block. I have a K161 or K181 which looks like it was origionally painted yellow so I think it might have origionally been on a Cub.. anyway, I tried unthreading the dipstick tube to replace it with a oil filler plug and it turns just fine, nice and smooth but it doesnt come out as it turns. It does not feel like any threads are stripped or anything, it just feels like the tube was pressed into the block instead of threaded. What do you think? Threaded block or pressed in dipstick tube?

Im unsure weather its a 161 or 181, it has the tins off a Wheel Horse on it and other than the numbers on the tin I dont know how to tell which engine it is. Externally they all both look about the same to me.

I would appreciate any help you can give me on this. I dont want to keep messing with it and foul things up, besides if its not threaded, theres no reason for me to remove the dipstick tube.

John

Thank you for your help Rick. I was hoping that was the case. I have a few other K161 and 181's set aside that I have picked up here and there and they all have the threaded plug so when I ran into this I was a bit confused.

Thanks again.

John
