clintonnut 126 #1 Posted April 2, 2010 I was talking to Josh416 and he said that Carlisle tires shut its doors. He bought the last set of 26x12x12 ag tires and now I'm getting them. Snarf them tires up because all that will be left are Nanco and Destone (chinese) tires. Firestone doesn't make small tires anymore, Carlisle doesn't, Goodyear stopped making them a while ago, what is left? I did hear from ME Miller that he is currently trying to purchase the molds from firestone so he can keep making them. It is true! No more American made tires for your garden tractor. Titan is still around but they didn't have a very big line. They were owned by Carlisle and I hope they don't go down the drain too Sorry for the news. Here's a link for you: http://www.cumberlink.com/articles/2009/07...a4611566787.txt They may not be gone forever but it will be a while if ever if you see American Made ag tires come out of them! Gene_S 93 #4 Posted April 3, 2010 Charlie I just went and got my work van service last weekend and I asked about 23 X 8.50 X 12 ags and he just got a shipment in. During the fall, earlie winter I tried to get a set for a project and they couldn't get them fast enough. Carlisle web site looks up to date but that don't mean much. Its hard to believe they'd hang it up. Good old going down the crapper!
CasualObserver 3,411 #5 Posted April 3, 2010 You realize that article is nearly a year old right? It's the internet, don't believe everything you read, it's not always the most current or accurate.
Deere Hunter 54 #6 Posted April 3, 2010 Carlisle Tires did not shut their doors, they just did away with the Super Lug line. They still make the Tru Bar line but they suck for pulling. Vogel Manufacturing are doing the 23x10.5 that look like the Carlisle Super lug but with a better rubber compound.
bell 11 #7 Posted April 3, 2010 That's what I heard also... They just discontinued the Super Lugs... or atleast some of them. I'm really glad I picked up that pair of 23x10.50-12 Super Lugs in Florida for $40... :D
rmaynard 16,293 #8 Posted April 3, 2010 My local Carlisle dealer tells me that the closure of that plant is only to consolidate operations to Jackson TN. The good news is that a portion of their Chinese operation is also relocating to Jackson, bringing more work to AMERICANS Although they may not be making lug tires any longer (you have to make what sells), they are still in business and making tires. Butch 194 #9 Posted April 3, 2010 That's how I read the article also. They're relocating several plants to just one in Jackson which would be sometime near the end of the year based on the date of the article. Butch S. Jersey

Audioshot 2 #11 Posted April 3, 2010 Carlisle is known more for their awesome industrial roofing systems than anything. They are an importer of industrial, OTR and ag tires. The plants that make them also make Dico, Nankang (and tons of others). They start with a "green tire" and then stamp the name plate on the sidewall and tweak the tread pattern to the importers specs. Even Goodyear Marathon trailer tires are made in those plants. No worries. If the tires were still made in America, they would be triple the price due to the fact that they are hand made. Titan, Firestone, GPX and Solideal are the big players now. Though GPX quality has improved in the last couple years.
