WheelHorse_of_course 99 #7 Posted April 1, 2010 I never knew WheelHorse was sold outside of the U.S.A. Yes, Wheel Horse sold them in several European countries. We have at least 3 UK members and two from the Netherland and I think one from Germany. And the D-250 was designed and made in Europe (I cannot recall where at the moment). Remco, Great conversion - thanks for sharing the pictures. So, what is next ? Rolf (German name but 100% US going back to the revolutionary times) :D
SALTYWRIGHT 861 #8 Posted April 1, 2010 HI...I TOO PUT A DIESEL IN MY 417-8 WHEEL HORSE. IT HAS WORKED OUT VERY GOOD. IT USES VERY LITTLE FUEL. I AM NOW PUTTING A SMALL (1000 CAP.) CRANE ON THE BACK. THIS TRACTOR IS MY PLAY TOY. (I HAVE 4 OTHERS) RUSS :omg:
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #9 Posted April 1, 2010 :omg: What size/hp is the diesel?
Lane Ranger 11,411 #10 Posted April 1, 2010 That front PTO setup for other equipment looks like a very good piece of engineering! :omg:
wh500special 2,277 #11 Posted April 1, 2010 Nice. That engine looks like a DY41. 8.5 hp. If it is, you have essentially replicated what Wheel Horse did with the model 512D. Nice work! I have the same engine in a little 5000W generator and really like it. It is very miserly on fuel and seems to start very easily in almost any weather condition. Very loud though. If anyone is interested in hearing a Robin DY41 run as an approximation to what a WH 512D or his tractor might sound like, click this: Steve
Rideawaysenior 25 #12 Posted April 2, 2010 D250 was made by Gutbroad which is a German made machine.
horsefeathers 15 #13 Posted April 2, 2010 Remko, that Robin looks real good on the back of that red horse! you have found a great second home at Red Square! HORSEFEATHERS!

There are no label or other markings on the engine. But ik looks and sounds exact the same as in your movie clip. It still amazes me how little fuel it uses in comparison to the Kohler. That is also the reason I did the conversion. Ok it is loud and it bucks like a mule at low RPM. But there's nothing like the smell of diesel in the morning. This winter is started it at -10 by hand. No problems. One pull and it runs. next thing i am thinking of is running bio-diesel or some other kind of oil. Will make the hand starting harder i think. Thanks for all the comments.
