Add a Oil Cooler to an Onan?

Recommended Posts

I can buy a small oil cooler that will plumb in the oil lines on a 520H. Do you think a small oil cooler might help with life expectancy? Or a waste of time and money? Whats your thoughts?

Well I can't see how it could hurt. It could help prolong the life of the hydro but than again keeping your tractor clean goes a long way with the hydro and keeping the cooling fan in good condition helps as well. How much does it cost for this unit?

I was thinking to cool the engine oil not the hydro oil. This will cost about $60. I agree total with keeping it clean. :omg:

I like the idea. If you come up with a kit that works, I would probably buy one.

To add this to the hydro unit, I think it would need to have temp sensor in place. This way the cooler is by-passed when the hydro's temp is cold (winter time) but will open to cool the oil when being used in the hot summer time under a load. So.... I guess you could add one of these to the hydro and the engine both.
