Horse Fanatic 51 #1 Posted March 30, 2010 This is subjective, wondering what others thought. I have a 418-A with Kohler Series II Magnum engine and a 520-H with the Onan. I like them both, I particularly like that the Onan has an oil filter. With the problems that Onans seem to have on Wheelhorses, which engine do you prefer??? bo dawg 518 #2 Posted March 30, 2010 I would pick Kohler, especially the series 2, it has the improved lubrication system over the series 1. I think Onan is a nice engine but the K's have it. But that's my lack of $.02 worth. :D
flyboy1015 0 #3 Posted March 30, 2010 I've had both. They both seem to have a pretty good reputation and are rebuildable practically forever. I think that for the price, Kohler is your best bet. Onan is pretty proud of themselves and their prices show it. Otherwise, I think both would serve you well.
Confused99 2 #4 Posted March 30, 2010 I would have to side with Onan only for the power. The Kohlers are cheaper to repair/rebuild though. I currently have both. Jason
