Im doing a little home work while serching for a K-301 for a Wheel Horse. Are there other tractors that use the same engine? I will told years ago the Cub Cadets have a different crank shaft that the wheel horses. A friend has a 14 hp off someother brand that he will trade me. What shaft diameter do I need etc. Any do's ot don'ts?

don't quote me on it but I think the cub and horse are interchangable but not the deere I think the shaft is the same you may have to change the oil pan I had a problem with the stator not bolting up but that was both on deere k181's

Well to start with on the 10hp and larger engines, they make at least two diff. blocks were the oil pan mounts, and diff oil fill locations that is not a big thing to deal with, the WH uses a 1 1/8" crank most but not all other brands use a 1" crank that also can be fixed by using a pto sleve from a K-181 they use a 1" crank on WH's then if starter/gen engine you will need to replace the bearing plate to the gear drive starter and newer charging system, biggest thing is the oil pan mounting WH used both styles what tractor are you putting it on? does it have the shaker mount/rubber mounts or soild mount?

I am looking to put an agine on the Electro 12 I picked up. I want assume it was mounted just like my Raider 12. Directly to the frame with no rubber. Kelly, if the 14 hp I located has a 1" crank, there is an adapter to take it to 1 1/8"?

Like Kelly said above, you can use the PTO sleeve from a "small block" engine that used a 1" crank (from a B80 K181 for example).

Good hunting!!

Finding an OEM 1" bore X 5 1/4" diameter (hydro) drive pulley might pose a bit of a challenge too, unless you have a 1" bore electric PTO clutch. (the drive pulley wouldn't need the holes to fasten the manual PTO clutch disc retainers)

You could use a universal pulley if you don't need those holes.
