KC9KAS 4,744 #1 Posted March 27, 2010 Finally found a 10 HP K241S for my B-100 Automatic. Currently this motor has NO compression , but I just got it home and haven't checked for stuck valve(s) yet. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I remove the head? Does anyone have an idea on cost to rebuild this motor assuming it won't need bored? Thanks fellow "Horse lovers" :D
rickv1957 75 #2 Posted March 27, 2010 Rebuild cost will vary depending on how many parts you need and the brand of parts used, also any machine work,Rick
Docwheelhorse 2,740 #3 Posted March 27, 2010 Personally I wouldn't rebuild a 10.... somebody on the forum here has to have a tuckered out/rebuildable 12/14/16 to help you out. The automatics are a bit of a horsepower hog and if you can get a rebuildable bigger unit you would be better off. Hopefully your engine hasn't broken the rod and thats why there isn't any compression. Tony
KC9KAS 4,744 #4 Posted March 28, 2010 I just found out that this engine has an Automatic Compression Release that when operating properly, will have "low" compression until RPM's reach 600. Hopefully this is why the lack of compression for this K241.
pfrederi 18,696 #5 Posted March 28, 2010 Your initial post said No compression. Even with ACR there is some compression. ACR opens the exhaust valve briefly during the compression stroke but it is closed at near tthe end of the stroke so there is some compression.
KC9KAS 4,744 #6 Posted March 28, 2010 Messed with the engine today, and I managed to get it started! I only ran it for a couple of seconds, as I did not have it bolted down, and I didn't want it to land on the floor! :D
