USHorse 41 #1 Posted March 25, 2010 Current Condition: No Spark Kohler 341 Project Tractor - Had a rough running engine. So, started with carb rebuild (professionaly) and while it was out for rebuild thought I would remove points to inspect. Took points off, saw some pitting/metal transfer, so bought new points and installed. Rebuilt carb then installed. FYI...while points were removed, I most likely turned engine by hand and installed points where ever I left the postion of the engine. FYI...the gap does appear to be slightly > 0.02"). I crank engine with new battery (since I drained the other one with to avail) and now have ZERO spark. Replaced coil and condensor. Still no spark. I am measuring 12 Volts at negative post of coil with key in "on" position. I get "sparking" at points gap when I put in a metal feeler gauge. When I rotate crankshaft by hand, the points never fully close. Should the points fully close and the max opening be the 0.02" and at that position be TDC?
