Butch 194 #1 Posted March 23, 2010 UPS delivered my Dial a Hite today. Opened the box and it was there in a plastic bag with instructions. Not much to it but $64 for a new OEM Toro part I guess it wasn't bad. As I was taking the rest of the packing out of the bottom of the box I realized it was heavy and there was more!! They included the bottom shift plate and the hoodstand plate!! Plus 5 decals!!! The decals sell for $88.00 through RCPW and the plates I can no longer find listed anywhere. I have the part numbers but can't find anyone with the plates. I have to assume those two plates must be at least $30.00 each. Here all I was expecting was the Dial A Hite only and they gave me all the other parts. The down side is I had already bought those decals last year!! But I feel like I got $200 worth of OEM Toro parts for only $64.00. Heck I was happy that 25 year old part was still available!! And Duke if you're reading this. Hooga Booga Hoo!!! Butch S. If you notice the two dash plates have the cutout for the Dial a Hite and of course you need decals for the plates. I just wasn't expecting them. Butch S. Butch 194 #15 Posted March 25, 2010 One time the customer came out ahead. That's a nice haul for the money. That's exactly what I told my wife. How many times have you been to the drive-thru and you were short a burger or a fry? How many times did those same drive-thrus make a mistake and give you an extra burger or a fry? NEVER. I just wish Sam Kinison was here to say NEVER for me to get my point across!! Butch S. Jersey
Butch 194 #16 Posted March 25, 2010 tgranthamfd it's eventually gonna be an 85 314-8. But it's gonna be a worker. I have a ton of work I need to use it for. If I had a roto-tiller for it I would use it to. But I have a Troy-bilt tiller from the real Troy-bilt company which I love to use also. Butch S. Butch 194 #18 Posted April 5, 2010 Hey Duff. Give them a call. I just pulled out the instruction sheet. And it lists ALL the parts I have a pic of as BEING part of the kit. They short changed you. They were supposed to be included based on my 8-6725 instruction sheet. Butch
Butch 194 #19 Posted April 5, 2010 Duff if you run a search on the Toro web site for that part it shows all of the parts also. Here is a direct link to it. Parts, part numbers and drawings. https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/PartPage.c...&DrawingIndex=1 Butch

They were supposed to be included based on my 8-6725 instruction sheet. Butch Hey, guys! First, here's a thanks to Butch , and then a shout-out for RCPW! I called them and got a very helpful and cheerful guy named Vic in Shipping who heard me out and then called me back within 20 minutes. He had called Toro to see just what the deal was and got assurances the new - complete - kit would be shipped out immediately! The real bonus? Vic told me just to keep the parts I already received (which was everything except the two sheet metal panels and the decals) as a thanks for my patience. Now that's good old American customer service! RCPW will get more of my business for sure! Duff :D
Pirate 0 #21 Posted April 6, 2010 I'm a Newbee here with a 414-8, and have looked on the site and Googled it, and just can't find out what a Dial A Hite is! I guess it might be for height adjustment of a hitch. if so, what kind of hitch, and are there any pictures of the installation. Thanks
Duff 206 #22 Posted April 6, 2010 I'm a Newbee here with a 414-8, and have looked on the site and Googled it, and just can't find out what a Dial A Hite is! I guess it might be for height adjustment of a hitch. if so, what kind of hitch, and are there any pictures of the installation. Thanks It's the device used to control the height of attachments hooked to the mid-mount hitch such as a mid-mount grader blade or, I believe, a front mount blade if you are using it for grading and need to control how much "bite" the blade is taking. Some folks have, I'm told, also used it to control the height of a mower deck but this seems redundant as the decks have their own height adjustments. On your tractor, it would be attached to the frame at the left side of the shift cover plate at the front, left corner - just left of and and ahead of the parking brake lever. The shift cover plate and the lower dash panel must both be notched to accept the Dial-a-Hite control. Don't know if this helps? Duff :omg:
