K-241S & K-241AS

I thought I seen this discussed before but can't find it.

I have a 1975 C-100 (K-241S) with a rod knock. I also have a K-241AS (Small oil pan, cradle still bolted to the pan) cradle mount engine. I don't know what year Wheel Horse this came off of. I'm guessing a black hood. Serial number part on the tag is gone.

This week I'm going to make a bench mount and see if K-241AS the engine will run. If it does............. I'm thinking about putting the K-241AS on the C-100 until I can get the K-241S rebuilt.

Will the oil pan from the K-241S mount up to the K-241AS block? My initial look is telling me probably not. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks TT.

Have you tried a cradle mount engine on a 75 C-100. without taking a sawsall to anything?

I never did it in that direction, but I did put a "big pan" K-301 on a 1979 C-161 (twin) 8 speed that originally had an iso-mounted Briggs twin.

The tractors built before 1978 do not have the 3/8" holes in the frame for the cradle mounting blocks but they can drilled easy enough if you have location measurements.

The only real issue with the 1977 & older tractors would be the front belt guard mount. If the engine is rubber-mounted, the guard can no longer be fastened to the engine.

Thanks again. :omg:

I don't want to drill or cut anything on the 75.

Once I test the K241 AS and determine it to be in good running order, I'll probably put the engine in the classified section. Unless I come up with an 80's model Tractor that I can use it on. :D
