Kohler is a (Edited 3-13-2010, I had wrong numbers in orginial post, were from my 1986 312A) should have been: K301S Spec 47812, Serial# 15052828, not sure of year but based on SPEC is frm a 1985 312-8. Has a 12 volt coil on it. Any suggestions of how to do this or where to find out? GT1142 has the 11 HP Briggs, putting in a K301S Kohler. 6wheeler 669 #2 Posted March 12, 2010 Rich, You might want to go on the Briggs web sight and check out wiring diagrams for that model. That is what I had to do for a opposite swap from a briggs to a command series kohler on one of my other(green) tractors. That was the easiest for me. Daddy Don 909 #3 Posted March 13, 2010 I just took a briggs 11hp off a c111. I put a k321 14 hp back on. The 3wires coming out of the kol. is for a rectifer for the charging sys and for the lights. I picked up a wiring harnness for the k14hp and also had to change out the ing. switch. The switch for the briggs is different than the kol. The briggs switch is wired different. It is set up for a relay. I am still checking out the charging sys to make sure it is working ok. After changing the switch and pluging in the wires it started right up. You will need a rectifer for the Kol.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted March 13, 2010 Your engine is from a 1986 WH 312A and you can use this schematic: NOTE: These engines have a non-regulated 3 amp charging system and do not have a rectifier/regulator. You will need to change the ignition switch to a Toro/WH # 103990 (or equivalent) for the battery ignition system.
