C-Series14 15 #1 Posted March 11, 2010 Alright, I have several different types of steering wheels on my tractors. I have the soft grip ones on my 1982 C-195 (larger diameter) and 1984 C-145. I have the plastic 3 spoke on my 4 1979 model C-Series and on the 1981 C-175. NOW, there is a small plastic cap on the 3 spoke models. Some have 2 provisions for a small screwdriver to pry the cap off and some don't! Well, I am in the process of restoring a C-141 and it had no provisions for a small screwdriver so I made my own. Well, the cap's edge broke off but what do I find??? No steering wheel shaft visible, it is all solid plastic! Someone wanna explain this to me?

tgranthamfd 29 #3 Posted March 12, 2010 What was the secret? I have a center cap on my 160 that I can't even get off.
C-Series14 15 #4 Posted March 12, 2010 I was hoping some of the "pros" around here would have some info. What I did was get a very thing screwdriver and pried it out. Like I said, this one did not have the slots in the cap like my other tractors do. I can pop them off and back on. If it is the plastic 3 spoke it should pop off, the cap is like a lid off a jar, it has a little lip on it. Mine has half the lip missing but it goes on and will have to do. I tried looking just the cap up but it only shows the whole wheel...

TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #6 Posted March 12, 2010 I have a few universal Kelch wheels that are a carbon copy of the OEM WH wheels except the rim is "grippy". I never tried to pop a center cap out of any of that style of wheel - whether they were the original WH part, or the universal pieces, so I can't help you with particulars. Don't forget about Glen Pettit....... he has reproduction center caps for almost every wheel used on the Horses. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=6177
