dgoyette 12 #1 Posted March 9, 2010 Well couldn't say no. I am pretty sure it is a 753. There is no model number on it but there is a serial number. It has the original Kohler and does run. The prior owner started it for a few using an axillary fuel tank and battery. The Uni-drive was filled to the top with water but it came out mostly clear until the end. Then it looked nasty. It does move in both directions by turning the trans pulley by hand. Haven't had time to inspect to much but it appears right off that I will need: Hood Belt guard Left side panel/guard over brake voltage regulator I am thinking the hood will be hard to find and expensive! What is the best way to clean out the Uni-drive really well on a currently non running tractor? He was asking $250 and I offered $175 which he accepted. I figured I couldn't get hurt on that amount, but still not sure if I paid too much. I am currently working on the Lawn Ranger so although I am tempted to get on this one - I am going to finish the Lawn Ranger first. But want to do some things tucking it away for a few months. If anyone has parts please PM me.

Gene_S 93 #3 Posted March 9, 2010 Very nice find Darren and a good price... I really like the round hoods. Belt guards wont be hard to find and I'm sure I have a couple extras of both. But the hood will cost ya when you find a good one! Good luck and have fun with it!

Lane Ranger 11,395 #6 Posted March 9, 2010 Darren: A very nice find a great addition to your other Wheel Horse team. You have a very good mix of tractors. You are going to have to take a group shot when you get the Lawn Ranger and 753 back in running order. B)

stevasaurus 23,276 #15 Posted March 9, 2010 If you got water out of the trans, I'd be tempted to tear it down and check it out. If you do not want to tear it down, I would fill it with kerosene as full as I could get it...put it up on blocks, and run the trans through the gears for about 20 minutes. Drain the kerosene and see what it looks like. Repeat the process and if the kerosene comes out clean, fill with 90 weight and drive her around easy for awhile. You may want to change the 90 weight after some time also. You do not need to run at a full throttle with the kerosene in the trans, you are just circulating and cleaning. Anyway, I would tear it down...but get some thin oil on those parts now, or they will rust quick on you. Hope this helps.
dgoyette 12 #16 Posted March 9, 2010 Thanks for the comments guys. Lane Ranger - a group photo is definitely in order shortly! Steve - your post is helpful but unfortunately it is not running right now. So I need to oil the parts another way. maybe just unbolt the tranny and fill with oil and move it around to make sure everything gets oiled? At least until I can spend more time on it. Buzz 502 #18 Posted March 10, 2010 ! Steve - your post is helpful but unfortunately it is not running right now. So I need to oil the parts another way. That's when friends come in handy. It's a nice night, invite a buddy over for a cold one, hook a tow rope to another tractor and cruise around the yard checking out each gear a time or two. Drain, refill, and do it again until the kerosene comes out clear or you can't see to drive.......... B)
