Ian928 46 #1 Posted March 6, 2010 Our 1054 has AG tires that just clears the fenders, so there is no room to put chains on it. The Ag tires are like new so we want to keep those and get another set of wheels we can fit with chains. I can't imagine finding another set of rims for a WH in Norway, but my Girlfriend asked if there was some car rims that fit (or could be modified to fit). Does anybody know? clintonnut 126 #2 Posted March 6, 2010 Car rims will work. GT-14 rims also work or rims off a 1970's MTD mower. Charlie
Lane Ranger 11,395 #3 Posted March 6, 2010 This is my father's original 1964 Wheel Horse 1054. It has Ford Car Rims that are 15 inches with three lug nuts holding the wheel and tires on the 1054 hub. Note the chains are on the tires as they have been for at least three or four years prior to this photo being taken. I believe that the 1054 HUB was drilled to accomodate a new bolt/lug with a nut on the back side to hold it on the tractor. Note three lug bolts holding this wheel and tire on the 1054: B)
Ian928 46 #4 Posted March 15, 2010 Yes, this is exactly what we are looking for! I see no problem in drilling extra holes in the hub. Do you know what type of Ford the rims come from? They look like something from a 4x4? I see the center hole on the Ford rims is correct, I measured it to be 3.5" on our tractor, is this correct?
clintonnut 126 #5 Posted March 15, 2010 I'm surprised you don't just go with 4 lugs. Are they hard to find? If you weren't swapping wheels often I would get a set of 5 lug hubs off another wheel horse and mount them to the car rims then just swap the entire hub and wheel assembly. Just make sure the hubs you get are 1 1/8 not 1" Charlie
