Snowblower feet.

Recommended Posts

my blower is sitting right on the ground. so going over grass is a no no.. I raised the blower up a tad by a fingers thickness of the ground tightened the bolts back down.. Went out and plowed but after I was finished it was sitting on the ground again... I don't think I'm putting it down to hard to raise the feet back up.. Should I adjust again then torque them? Anyone else have the issue of them not staying where they were set?

bitten

Maybe some washers on the bolts and put the big wrench on it.

Depending on whether you are throwing over a driveway or loose surface the housing and auger should be adjusted so as not to catch on any uneven surfaces. When adjusting the feet the tractor should be parked on a flat (not necessarily level) surface, the housing lowered onto a pair of equal sized blocks place under the left and right sides of the housing, and the two bolts loosened to "drop" the feet. Once the appropriate height is achieved the bolts tightened. This part you probably already know.

The bolts retaining the skids to the housing should be "grade 5", as these feet should be tightened to about 125 Ft. Lbs so they do not move once set. If the feet are moving during use, then the bolts are not tightening enough. Check to make sure you have fully threaded bolts installed, with washer and lock washer. You may even want to replace the standard nut with a self-locking nut in addition to the washer and lock-washer.
