CochinsRus 0 #1 Posted February 26, 2010 I was wanting to know if there are any bad qualities or issues using a copper head gasket instead of the original style on the K341 engines. I have the ability to get a copper one but dont know if it will last as long or be as good.
markslawnmowerworld 4 #2 Posted February 26, 2010 I ran your question past a big tractor puller buddy of mine, and he said this is what they use in thier engines because they seal better and, when something goes wrong with thier engines the gasket is reuseable......he said they use a copper spray on both sides of the gasket as well..... he has been a tractor puller for over thirty years...,and has the trophies to back it up....so this information good be very true.. Roger from southern Iowa 1 #4 Posted February 26, 2010 Just add to the copper head gasket pro side. I know a local guy that ran blown alky funny cars for years(since gone on to nitro F/C). You guessed it copper head gaskets, copper spray and use them again. These machines create massive amounts of internal pressure. Good enough for them, good enough for me! Jim_M 179 #5 Posted February 26, 2010 Another advantage to the copper gasket is that you can buy a .015" thick copper gasket and raise your compression a little without any machine work.
Brrly1 1,146 #6 Posted February 26, 2010 Ok Rodger, I am almost afraid to ask where you hang out with your drag racing buddies at? There was a place I used to go to down by Centerville, Ia. As of right now the name escapes me but I'll bet dollars to donuts I have been there many times. 1/8 mile See Ya, Bye Burly Possibly Eddyville?
Roger from southern Iowa 1 #7 Posted February 26, 2010 Burly, you win the golden ring! YOU are RIGHT. I've watched this guy's carrier since he was 14. Got his start at that very track, still makes an appearance there about once a year. Now they pay him to show up. Sorry
