DMK855 15 #1 Posted February 25, 2010 Trying to get things sorted out on my 855. Right now it has a "car" battery mounted at the rear of the tractor with a Ford solenoid under the seat. It also has a generic ignition switch. I would like to know what size wire to run for battery cables to put a standard lawn battery back in the original location. I puchased a new 7263 Ign. switch for it also. I have searched an read many posts and it seems that 8 ga. is ok and 6 ga. is recommended. Does that seem right?? The rest of the wiring I am ok on. I just don't know how many amps a Start./Gen. will pull when cranking!! Thanks.

Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted February 25, 2010 6 or 8 ga will work just buy good wire, welding cable is about as good as you can get, the more strands the better, you want the cable to feel kinda soft not stiff as a board.
