tbbahner 28 #1 Posted February 24, 2010 I'm disassembling my K341s, 16hp Kohler. Flywheel is being stubborn right now. I've got a couple questions. I can see the governor gear has come off the shaft above the cam shaft gear. What would cause this to happen? Is it a common problem for the governor gear to come apart? What do I need to be looking for concerning the governor when I get it disassembled? I've never been this deep into a Kohler. I've done refresh's which is relatively straight forward. Next, I see overhaul kits being sold on Ebay for Kohlers. A lot cheaper than Kohler parts. He also sells governor assemblies. Any one had any experience with these kits? Any comments, assistance appreciated. Tom B
clintonnut 126 #2 Posted February 24, 2010 There should be a phillips head screw going through the side of the block around the governer area. If that screw is broken or missing the governor won't come out. Charlie
tbbahner 28 #3 Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks Charlie. Everything seems to be in place. The screw didn't appear to be bent or anything, the gear just came off for some reason. I went ahead and replaced the gear. Tom B
