PPGman 5 #1 Posted February 23, 2010 Hello...I apoligize in advance if this has been already discussed, but i have been searching the forums for awhile now and can't seem to find the answer. I currently am getting ready to tear my dads 1976 c-120 down for a restore and thought it would be nice to finally get his electric lift working on the tractor for him. To be honest, the thing never really did work correctly from the get-go. Somedays it works fine, others it starts, stops, starts....there seems to be no predictable pattern to it. After about a yr or so, it usually burns a switch, and then we replace and go through the same pattern. To be honest, i have very little experience with this type of lift. It looks like its nothing more than a electric actuator. I took the cover off the back and tried to clean up the brushes the best i could, and put it back together and had pretty much the same issues. I have been able to find nothing on the torro site that even shows me this lift system let alone any type of parts break down. Does anyone know if parts are available to rebuild this type of lift?? Could anybody point me in the direction of someone who might be able to rebuild this and get it working properly? I have a complete manual lift on the parts shelf that i have been threating to install for yrs, but with the snowblower, it sure would be nice to get this electric lift working if possible. Thanks in advance for any advise!

6wheeler 669 #4 Posted February 24, 2010  , The one thing I do know, are you getting the right switch? Or are you getting a cheap one from a parts store. The cheap ones seem to burn out on the inside because of poor contact on the blades. Also check the motor with a hot wire to see if it is the motor. The way these work is 2 wires, and the switch reverses polarity to make it run in the opposite direction. It seems to me that you may have a wiring or switch issue. Ie. is the switch wired correctly? Are the wires loose in the plug? The actuators , in my experience, either work or they don't. Not intermittently. I fought with one, on one of my (dare I say) green tractors . It turned out to be a bad wire connection. Fixed it and problem solved.... I promise never to mention green tractors here again... Good Luck Pat
