a-100 worth buying

Recommended Posts

I have the chance to buy a running a-100. it's all origanal In somewhat good shape. paint is very faded and some surface rust. The mower deck has a froze spindel no cracks or rust holes, is rusty but solid. It does run but not well, hasn't been used for 2+ years but no engine knock just needs carb cleaned or rebuilt. Tires are ok one front tire is flat and doesn't hold air over night. I know these tractors are just lawn mowers but for $40 is it worth it? Not sure of enaine size or deck size. If bought is there and found not to be fixable is there demaind for parts? Are parts around for these. Not even sure of the year of this. It was used up to 2 years ago. not to mow but to haul around a cart and his grandkids. He stoped mowing with it when deck froze and then stopped using it when he got a quad for kids. He wants me to buy it cause he knows I'll give it a fare chance if it worth fixing. Also he bought it used in the 80's so he's not sure of age. He never had to put any money into it. And bought it from a horse dealer who is now out of beuisness

The a-100 was made in 1977 it came with a briggs and stratton 8 horse engine

and had a 36" deck.

the vin# is 72-10bp01 if you need to look-up parts.

well thats a start. I really think I am just going to get it. $40 bucks for a running trator isn't bad. I could even just let my kids beat it around
