Lawn Ranger

Recommended Posts

grnlark

Good evening gentlemen,

My name is Matt, and this is my first post here on Redsquare. I'm reletively new to Wheel Horse tractors, but certainly not new to lawn and garden tractors. In my recent quest for a nice RJ to add to my growing collection of tractors (which BTW the search is still ongoing - still haven't found one yet - hint, hint) I came across and purchased this Lawn Ranger. It's a fully running and functioning machine and I thought it was pretty cool looking. To the best of my knowledge, it looks to be the original Tech motor.

It's obviously missing the seat and could use a resto, but all in all it's a super solid little machine.

I have a few questions though:

How can I tell what the year of manufacture for this tractor is?

Is there a particular model number/name other than Lawn Ranger?

Does anyone out there have a nice condition seat they would be willing to sell?

Is there a repro decal set for this tractor?

Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

Matt

Matt it looks like a 1968 there the only ones with the three spoke wheel the hood should have the long decal that says Lawn ranger and theres a vender that sell the decals

now there is or was a tag on the left sied were your knee would hit if you move it to the tractor

with the numbers of 1-1631 for pull start or 1-2631 for elec start

tghe seats good luck some one here may have one there a pan with pading mounted on metal two parts into the one pan

good luck

Matt nice Lawn Ranger B)

Seats are out there, but to find an original you may pay dearly.

Sometimes a parts tractor with a decent seat or reupholster an old one is a better option

My compliments on the rest of your GT collection & read your thread at MTF....sorry to hear about your C list issues.

If the steering wheel and belt cover are original it is a 68. They are great little tractors. My L107 (1967) is still in constant use..hauls a 750lb coal wagon up hill no problem...

I am wondering about the motor, from what I can see it is correct but it should be red not gray. It may have been replaced with a later motor, can you read any motor numbers? Should be stamped into the blower housing.

Sorry about the seat. My wife recovered mine...did a very nice job but it doesn't have the grooves in the white part

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

You're going to think I'm crazy, but I am about to close a deal on a RJ58 which is really what I wanted when I came across this Ranger. I don't want both, so as soon as it came in, the Ranger needs to go out to make room for the RJ. If anyone is interested in the Ranger, let me know.
