l-156 questions

needs a third gear (says its stripped out), where can a guy find one and what motor came on it? i is missing it and the hood, still not bad for $20 B)

The L-156 is a 1966 Lawn Ranger, came with a H60-75117E Tecumseh, 6hp engine, model 5053 4-speed transmission.

You have to figure what it is worth to you...you will have to probably buy a tranny to get the gears you need (buying just the gears will cost you almost as much as a whole tranny), and then find a motor that fits, tecumseh's are going to be getting harder to find parts for...but you could make several other motors fit....

Also no hood...so what you are getting is a frame, front axle and a steering wheel ( I am assuming the seat is shot or a replacement..... The front tires are an obsolete size if they are in good shape they might be worth something. You could probably get your $20 back selling off the rear hubs (if they are in good shape) and the front tires.....

ya but other than the third gear it is in better shape than the one i already redid (63 with 15hp Vanguard) might get for a spare tractor or just to keep myself busy any ideas where i might be able to get the third gear oh and would the 63 Lawnranger deck work on this (wont work on the 63 due to larger rear pully to gear it down) :party:

The L-155 is a nice lawn Ranger and first model of the Lawn Ranger with the vinyl/cushion seat and integrated fender pan.

$20 even for parts is a good buy -you never have enought parts it seems!

This is my brother's L-155 he purchaed with a mower deck for $30 in September of 2009 in Pontiac, Illinois at a Steam and Power Show:

His tractor has a lot of upside potential and I am sure the Lawn Ranger you are looking at coudl too!

I saw that listed pumper... but didn't/don't have time to run up that way. I'm guessing it's the same guy that sold a pretty nice Lawn Ranger blade just before Christmas that I was seriously looking at, but didn't get to in time. I think it would be too ironic to see both the blade and tractor come out of that same small town within a few months and not be from the same person!

I say go pick it up, from what I see in the picture it's definitely got that in parts if you have the room to store them... there's far worse ways to spend 20 bucks! B)
