Horse'n Around 22 #1 Posted February 21, 2010 Howdy, I picked up a Kohler K161 today. The serial number is 749903 and the spec number is 28937E. I have a feeling it might have origionally been on a WheelHorse, it even has the right pulley on the crank but thats purely speculation on my part. It has a rope starter, not a recoil starter just the one where you wind a rope and pull.It also looks to be origional to the engine. Could anyone tell me what I have and if it is off a Wheel Horse? I looked in a couple of places and the spec number is right but it says it should be a K161T and mine says only K161 with no letter following it.Does anyone have any ideas what I have here? Thanks, John

Horse'n Around 22 #3 Posted February 21, 2010 Hi Mike, Thank you , I appreciate it. I do my best to try to find answers to my own questions before I ask, but I came up empty. Thanks to your help I know why now.....didnt notice the advanced search function. Thanks again for your help, little by little Im learning valuable reference sources. Now I gotta do some digging and see which model it came on. John
Horse'n Around 22 #4 Posted February 21, 2010 I look closer at the ID tag and it is a K161T so now Im not so confused. It looks like it was on a 704.I was mistaking the hub on the flywheel for a rope starter, when I looked closer at the shroud , sure enough the mounting holes for the recoil starter are there plain as day. I didnt get to look at the engine really good because for once it was raining and I was just wanting to keep it from getting rained on. So it appears I need to locate and buy the recoil starter for it. John
