sorekiwi 761 #1 Posted February 21, 2010 It was a balmy 37 degrees today in NE Ohio, so I decided to let the horses out to soak up some sunshine while I swept up all the salt and crap that dripped onto the garage floor over the last couple of months. All those that rolled were let outside. 3 out of 8 drove under there own power, the 502 would have too, except I'd stolen the battery for one of the others The workers: L to R: 1973 14hp Auto, 1974 B80 4 Speed, 1966 1276, 1962 702. And the projects: L to R: 1968 500 Specials (times two), 1963 Lawn Ranger, 1992 520H. The hardest part was getting them back in while leaving room for a car! Rollerman 290 #9 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice lookin group Mike, feel free to share some of the snow since were lacking here this year. What are the plans for the 520?
Roger from southern Iowa 1 #10 Posted February 21, 2010 Eight horse hitch, a real hand full! Good looking crew there. Hope you enjoyed the spring like temps today. Not quite that warm here, not bad though.
sorekiwi 761 #11 Posted February 21, 2010 feel free to share some of the snow since were lacking here this year. What are the plans for the 520? Actually we havent had much snow this year so far. The yearly average for around here is 106 " and so far we are around 50" so maybe we've got a lot more coming. Plan "A" for the 520 is to piece the Onan back together, I'm combining 2 dead ones in a budget rebuild that I hope will turn out OK. Its about 1/2 way back together as we speak. Plan "B" will be to steal the 16hp Single back from the B-80. Unless I find a Briggs Vanguard or a Honda lying around... I hope for this one to be my principle mowing machine, I have nearly 2 acres to mow, so I'd like to knock out most of it with the 520 and get either the Lawn Ranger or one of the Specials to mow the tight spots around the house. And the 502 to get the edges of the creek with the sickle bar. I tried that out last fall and it works awesome! But it might mean I have to put an 8 speed in there, which creates yet another project! HorseFixer 2,013 #12 Posted February 21, 2010 Mike nice lookin Heard Indeed. Good enough to make any Horse Rancher Proud! Itll be a lil while before you will use that sickle bar mower tho! B)
tbbahner 28 #13 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice looking herd there! Ain't it a shame the wife's car has to stay in the garage. Tom B
sorekiwi 761 #14 Posted February 21, 2010 Ain't it a shame the wife's car has to stay in the garage. This is why one car gets to stay in the garage (at least in winter): Someone asked me recently for an up to date pic of the Lawn Ranger:
Michael Bullington 5 #15 Posted February 21, 2010 hey mike, good to see the ranger out and about...Did you spray it with the ih red?...i like the color in the pics!....ps. my cars stay out also due to the overgrown stable...luckly I only have to scrape off the windows a few times during the winter season
Lane Ranger 11,395 #16 Posted February 21, 2010 Mike: You have a very good mix of tractors and toys to run on them! You've come a long way with your Wheel Horse passion from from your searly days in Coatesville, Indiana B)
jaydeer 14 #17 Posted February 21, 2010 Nice group of tractors. Although I must say that 520 looks familiar. Hope you can get the onan running.
sorekiwi 761 #18 Posted February 21, 2010 good to see the ranger out and about...Did you spray it with the ih red?... Yes Michael, its Restoration Series IH Red. Like you I have decided its a bit too bright for my taste, but unlike you I'm not about to rub it down and start again! The next one will be getting something different. Dont pay any attention to the motor thats in there, thats a recoil Kohler thats earmarked for one of the 500 Specials. The Ranger will probably be getting the HT55 that came off the 502 if I can ever get it to start reliably. Since this is a 33E I need to see if the electric start H60 bits will bolt on it. You've come a long way with your Wheel Horse passion from from your searly days in Coatesville, Indiana I had 5 of these in Coatesville, the 14 Auto came from Indianapolis, the B80 came from Avon IN, the first 500 Special came from Centrepoint IN (thanks JB!!), the 502 came from Crawfordsville IN, and the Ranger came from Greencastle (rustled it out from under you!). There is also a nasty old 753 carcass kicking around here that came from RustyoldJim up by Crawfordsville
sorekiwi 761 #19 Posted February 21, 2010 Although I must say that 520 looks familiar. Hey John! We dont see you here too often! You really need to do some picures of your line up, although you will need a very wide angle lense. Maybe I need to come and pick up that 552 to add to my line-up... Do you still have it for sale?
jaydeer 14 #20 Posted February 21, 2010 Yeah it is still for sale. I have a couple of people interested but no takers yet. I will be putting a post out next month again for a couple of others I have also. I too am planning on cleaning out the garage. Need to get rid of a few before everything goes back in.
