In forward motion this tractor runs at typical speeds every time. When using reverse sometimes I have normal ground speed, other time....slow as a molasses on a cold day.

Engine RPM in the "slow mode" has no effect. I've checked for looseness in the linkage, find, nothing. Linkage is adjusted correctly. I have not checked pump pressures.

Any and all input requested and appreciated. B)

I just realized I hadn't done an update on this.

Oil and filter didn't change a thing. Still a part time creepy reverse.

So, I'm going to take the side panel off of the dash tower and do a complete check of linkage A to Z.

There has to be a reason for this. B)

I've had this situation with reverse all the time I've used this tractor.

I removed the side panel this afternoon and finally discovered one "joint" of the linkage was sloppy. Found there was a bushing missing.

I could NOT see it before taking the side plate off!!!

I will wait until morning to get it out of the shop and drive it.

I have started and ran it forward and reverse (ON STANDS) and it appeared to work fine, after much readjusting of linkage.

ACID TEST, in the morning!! B)

I drove the 18 auto, seems to work fine.

It's amazing what one little bushing, or the lack of, will do to a guy. B)
